Privacy Policy

Ernest Hotte Inc. (“we”) respects your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect on ernesthotte.com, why we collect it, who has access to it, and what your rights are. It is written to comply with Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).
1. What we collect and how
We only collect the information we need.
Information you give us
- Contact form: first name, last name, email, phone number and your message.
- Quote request: your contact details, the building address and type, the details of your roofing project, your desired timeline, and any attachments you choose to send (for example, photos).
- Newsletter: your email address.
- Emails and calls: whatever you choose to share with us.
Information collected automatically
If you accept analytics cookies, we collect technical information: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, date and time of your visit, and the referring site. These cookies are off by default. They are only turned on if you click “Accept” in the cookie banner. See section 4.
2. Why we collect it
- To answer your questions and requests.
- To prepare a quote and schedule a visit or work.
- To send you our newsletter, if you subscribed.
- To understand how our site is used so we can improve it (only with your consent).
- To protect our forms against automated submissions (spam).
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it to make automated decisions about you.
3. You can say no
You do not have to use our forms: you can reach us by phone at 514 255-1591. If you choose not to provide certain information, we may not be able to prepare your quote or reply to you. You can decline analytics cookies: the site will work normally.

5. Who has access to your information
Within our company
Only the people who need it to do their job: our sales and estimating team, administration and management.
Our service providers
- HubSpot, Inc. — hosts our website, forms, contact database and newsletter mailings.
- Google LLC (reCAPTCHA) — protects our forms against spam.
Transfers outside Québec
These providers store data in the United States. Your information may therefore be transferred and stored outside Québec. We have assessed these providers, and they are bound by contractual data-protection commitments.
We do not share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above:
- Inquiries and quotes: 3 years after our last exchange.
- Client files: according to our legal and warranty obligations.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
After that, we securely destroy or anonymize it.
7. How we protect it
Password-restricted access with two-factor authentication, encrypted connections (HTTPS), reputable providers and staff awareness. We keep a register of confidentiality incidents. If an incident posed a risk of serious harm, we would notify the Commission d’accès à l’information and the people affected.
8. Your rights
At any time, you can:
- access the information we hold about you and get a copy, including in a structured, commonly used technological format;
- have it corrected if it is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous;
- withdraw your consent (for example, unsubscribe from the newsletter or decline cookies);
- ask us to stop disseminating information about you, or to have it de-indexed, where the law provides for it;
- file a complaint with us.
Write to our privacy officer (section 9). We reply in writing within 30 days. This service is free.

10. Our governance rules, in brief
- The President is responsible for the protection of personal information.
- Access is limited to employees who need it.
- Information is destroyed or anonymized at the end of its retention period.
- Any complaint is handled by the person in charge, who replies in writing within 30 days.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The date of the last update appears at the top of the page. If we make a significant change, we will announce it on our site.
